Located on the South side of the Kennet valley is the highly regarded village of Kintbury whose long history dating from the Domesday Book is closely linked with agriculture. Sited on the higher ground above the River Kennet and the Kennet and Avon Canal, the village encompasses all the traditional ingredients of rural life including a church which dates from the 12th century. The Kennet and Avon Canal built and opened in 1812 has recently been extensively renovated by a preservation trust and is now navigable from Devizes to Reading. During the Summer months a variety of colourful canal barges can be seen gently gliding up and down the canal which extends along the Northern fringes of the village.
In the village there are three inns including the Dundas Arms well-known for its food which is scenically located between the canal and the River Kennett. There is also a Post Office General Stores, a butchers, modern health centre and a primary school. The close proximity of Hungerford and Newbury by road and rail bring their wide range of shops, facilities and amenities within easy reach. Additionally the M4 can easily be reached at either Junction 13 to the East or Junction 14 to the West.
